The Broadsheet Restaurant – Melbourne eats.
Ahh the joys of having your weekend during the week. Kinda perfect for a couple of foodies – restaurants are usually less busy, and I love the fact that you know you’re breaking conformity.
Late lunching with my lovely food blogger friend Daisy, from Never Too Sweet, we set our sights upon The Broadsheet Restaurant in Fitzroy. LOVE the concept – a restaurant which fully represents their favourite dishes in Melbourne, as decided by their restaurateurs.
The interior is impressive – large in size, with simple yet stylish furnishings. Arriving at around 2.30pm, the restaurant had a delightful ambience – both calming and welcoming.
Here’s what we ate……
Daisy had already done her research on the menu, and opted for the Toasted Reuben sandwich on dark rye with corned brisket, sauerkraut, Swiss and Russian dressing – $17 (Five Points Deli).
Wow, LOOK AT THAT SUCCULENT MEAT. Daisy gave me a sample, and it was every bit as luscious as it looked. Juicy and tender, it was utterly orgasmic.
Forgetting about ‘The Simpsons’ quote, I’m a firm believer that you CAN make friends with salad! Raw kale, sprouted buckwheat, pickled vegetable salad, seaweed and almond (add poached egg + $3) – $17.00 (The Kettle Black).
Saaaaah pretty, I added a couple of poached eggs for that all important protein content. The flavours were bold and bursting with vibrancy – crisp vegetables, flawlessly poached eggs, accumulating wonderfully with the variety of ingredients. Highly recommended.
There was some confusion when the server originally arrived with a different dish, however, be that as it may, the service was nothing short of superb. Friendly, and knowledgeable, they certainly have an top notch team behind this wonderfully unique restaurant experience.
The Broadsheet Restaurant is only open from 5th June to 2nd August….so if you’re in Melbourne, make sure you give it a try!
Until next time, happy noms 🙂
